A wonderful turnout for the blessing of our two Sweet Gum trees! More than 100 people attended a special dedication at the Motherhouse on Tuesday, April 5. The trees stand in honor of those who have shared their lives with the Sisters,
including deceased priests and sisters from other congregations. Throughout the years, a total of 38 Diocesan priests, Basilian Fathers and Pallottine Fathers have lived at the SSJ Motherhouse, as well as four women religious from Discalced Carmelite Sisters, Sisters for Christian Community, Sisters of Our Lady of Charity, and Company of St. Ursula
of Canada. The blessing also honored deceased SSJ Associates and Collaborators.
The dedication was highlighted by a welcome from Sister Sharon Bailey, Congregational President, and with song and prayer led by Sisters Jean Rodman and Kay Heverin. After the blessing, guests were invited inside for a special Prayer for Our Times hosted by the Collaborators and reception hosted by the Motherhouse and the Associates
The Congregation is grateful to the Metzger family who donated the funds for the trees in loving memory of June Metzger.
