The
Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester are proud to celebrate 162 years of service to our
communities – the City of Rochester, Monroe County, the Diocese of Rochester
and beyond. To commemorate the faith-filled and courageous contributions
of our Sisters past and present, a “Public Proclamation” of the SSJ mission
will be held on Friday,
June 24 at 9 am outside St. Boniface Convent located at 314 Gregory Street in
Rochester.
Mayor
Lovely Warren and Marlene Bessette, President and CEO of the Catholic Family
Center and member of the Anti-Poverty Initiative, will be present and invited
to receive the SSJ commitment – a promise to continue working with, among and
for those who have no voice. The Sisters, along with SSJ Associates and Collaborators, will share the experience via Facebook
livestream at https://www.facebook.com/SistersofSaintJosephofRochester/.
Following
the “Public Proclamation,” the Sisters will spend the rest of the morning doing
a variety of service projects throughout the community. We are proud of the contributions our Sisters
have made and continue to make in education, health care, criminal justice,
social justice, theology and the arts in the City of Rochester,
Monroe County, and the Diocese of Rochester.
