D’Youville College Scholarship Honors SSJ
May 9, 2017
A contribution to D’Youville College in Buffalo has been named in honor of Sister Donna Del Santo and her late sister, Diane. The Del Santo Family Community Health Scholarship will provide $20,000 annually, in support of nursing students in their junior or senior year, who demonstrate a commitment to community service and who will pursue a career in community health. Four students per year will be selected to receive the scholarship starting this fall.
The scholarship was donated by a couple who wish to remain anonymous. The wife was a nursing classmate of Sister Donna at D’Youville and is a lifelong friend. Sister Donna graduated from D’Youville’s nursing class in 1975. Her sister, Diane, was a member of D’Youville’s class of 1982. She taught at Lafayette High School until her death in 2016.
Sister Donna was featured in a D’Youville College article about the gift saying, “It’s a great honor to have my family name, including Diane’s, associated with this generous scholarship to support students who want to enter community health and help others. I am so grateful.”
