The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester express
sadness and deep concern over the recent turmoil among fellow Americans as well
as between the governments of the United States and North Korea. We pray for
all of those affected by the horrific acts of violence and hatred in
Charlottesville, Virginia. The belief that all humanity is to be revered is a
basic tenet of our faith. We join the Leadership Conference of Women Religious
(LCWR) in discerning the Gospel call to embody love for the sake of the world. We
also support LCWR’s public statement regarding ongoing tensions between the US
and North Korea, which can be found at www.lcwr.org. At this critical moment
for our country and global community, we pray for constructive dialogue, peace
and compassion as we work towards healing and uniting as one.
