SSJ Presents at Thomas Merton Conference

Dr. Monica Weis, SSJ, Professor Emerita at Nazareth College, was among participants of the International Thomas Merton Society meeting at Santa Clara University June 27-30, 2019. Sister Monica presented a paper on "Early Irish Hermit Poetry." She was accompanied by Nazareth College's Dr. Christine Bochen, Faculty Emerita in Religious Studies, Jamie Fazio, Director of the Center for Spirituality, and students Maura Hamilton and Sarah Schuler. Bochen conducted a workshop on "Merton and Joy." Fazio was a co-coordinator of 14 Daggy Scholars, students who received scholarships to attend, of whom Hamilton and Schuler were members. The four-day meeting was attended by more than 200 Merton scholars and readers of the Trappist monk from the US, Canada, and Europe.
