Foodlink Honors SSJ Mission of Service

Sister Beth LeValley received the Thomas C. Ferraro Legacy Award during Foodlink’s The Get Together fundraiser on March 21. Foodlink serves as the hub of the emergency food system across a 10-county service area. The award is named after the organization’s late founder and honors an individual with visionary leadership, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep commitment to the Foodlink mission.

“Sister Beth has embodied the corporal and spiritual works of Mercy. She has fed the hungry, clothed the naked and buried the dead. She has comforted and counseled,” said Julia Tedesco, Foodlink President and CEO, before presenting Sister Beth with the award.

In her acceptance speech, Sister Beth shared, “For me the vision of Foodlink is a prayer, an aspiration, and a call to justice. It is a testament to Tom, to what he envisioned and created, and to today’s Foodlink leaders, some who learned directly from him.”

Sister Beth served on the Foodlink board for nearly 10 years. She then became an active participant in the organization’s Advocacy Committee.
