SSJ Leads Spiritual Retreat on Merton

Sister Monica Weis recently led a Retreat Day on Trappist Monk Thomas Merton. About 30 people attended the two-part presentation on Saturday, February 10 at the Lindwood Spirituality Center in Rhineback, NY. The sessions included time for silent reflection and sharing as guests pondered, “How might Merton's life--his birth in France, travels to England and the monastery in KY--contribute to our own sense of home and belonging? How might Merton’s significant moments in nature impact our own spiritual life map? And further--how might Merton’s insights on our interconnectedness exemplify Pope Francis’ call for an integral ecology?” Sister Monica is a long-time member of the International Thomas Merton Society and former Vice President of ITMS. She is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences and has authored three books about Merton.
