Top Vatican Official Among Panel at Nazareth’s Shannon Chair Lecture Series
Sister Susan Nowak, the William H. Shannon Chair in Religious Studies at Nazareth University, is proud to announce a distinguished lineup of speakers for the spring summit of the Shannon Chair Lecture Series. This prestigious event will feature Sister Raffaella Petrini, Ph.D., the newly appointed President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State and President of the Governorate of Vatican City State. Sister Raffaella, who made history as the first woman to hold this position, is now one of the highest-ranking officials at the Vatican. Joining her at the April 6 summit will be Najeeba Syeed, J.D., and Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld, Ph.D. Together, they will explore the theme of "Uniting Education and Action," which honors Nazareth University’s Centennial celebration.
Sister Susan expressed her enthusiasm for the event, saying, “The presenters bring a wealth of experience as bridge-builders, opening ways to transcend boundaries and borders that are sources of division and isolation. Aware of the ways in which religion has contributed to ruptured relationships, oppressive societal structures, and religious hatred, they will offer practical ways to draw upon each tradition's sources of love, unity, and healing. Together they will explore a question raised by so many individuals and communities: How can I live as a force for justice, equality, and peace in a world that is so fractured?”
The summit will take place in the Shults Center Forum from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., offering attendees a rare opportunity to hear from leaders who are shaping the future of faith, justice, and global unity.
