Favorite Prayer of Sister Kathy Weider
He Desired Me So I Came
He desired me so I came close.
No one can ever near God unless He has
prepared a bed for
you.
A thousand souls hear his call every second,
but most every one then looks into their life’s mirror and
says, “I am not worthy to leave this
sadness.”
When I first heard His courting song, I too
looked at all I had done in my life
and said,
“How can I gaze into His omnipresent eyes?”
I spoke those words with all
my heart,
but then He sang again, a song even sweeter,
and when I tried to shame myself once more from His presence
God showed me His compassion and spoke a divine truth,
“I made you, dear, and all I make is perfect.
Please come close, for I
desire
you.”
Saint Teresa of Avila
I Won’t Take No for an Answer
“I won’t take no for an answer,”
God began to say
to me
when He opened His arms each night
wanting us to
dance.
Saint Catherine of Siena
Pour Over Me
Wild and wonderful God,
let loose your Spirit upon me
so that your love
grace
wisdom
peace
joy
patience
and gentleness
may pour over me like a waterfall
washing away all that keeps me from you,
and all that keeps me
from living and loving as you desire.
Amen.

Rumi, Pay Homage
If God said,
“Rumi, pay homage to everything
that has helped you
enter my
arms,”
there would not be one experience of my life,
not one thought, not one feeling,
not any act, I
would not
bow
to.
FOR WHAT ARE WE GRATEFUL? FOR EVERYTHING THAT HAS HELPED US TO ENTER THE ARMS OF GOD!
Candle Light
Candle burning
flame brightly shining
light glowing
beautiful
symbol.
The candle
consumed as it burns
imperceptively melts away
giving totally of itself
to bring light
to those with eyes
to see.
I am called
to burn brightly
shining the light
of the love of God
into the dark places
where suffering
threatens hope.
May I be turned into fire –
the fire of your love
beaming your presence
every day
living meaningfully
into death
then knowing
|the all-consuming
never-ending
light
of your love
in the heart
of you, my God.

Some of You I Will Hollow Out
“Some of you I will hollow out.
I will make you a cave.
I will carve you so deep the stars will shine in your darkness.
You will be a bowl.
You will be the cup in the rock collecting rain…
I will do this because the world needs the hollowness of you.
I will do this for the space you will be.
I will do this because you must be large.
A passage.
People will find their way through you.
A bowl --- people will eat from you
and their hunger will not weaken them to death…
Light will flow from your hollowing…
The round open center of you will be radiant.
I will call you brilliant one.
I will call you daughter who is wide.
I will call you transformed.”
from a poem by Christine Lore Webber
