SSJ Recognized for Extraordinary Contributions to Catholic Education

Sister Francella Quinn was recently honored with the 2024 Lighting the Fire for Catholic Education award by the Catholic School Administrators Association of New York State (CSAANYS). Sister Francella was one of three educators to receive this recognition at a special reception held on Tuesday, November 12 in Albany. The award acknowledges individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to Catholic education in New York State, demonstrating unwavering dedication and a lifelong commitment to fostering the values and mission of Catholic schools.

With nearly 70 years of service in education, Sister Francella has served as a teacher and administrator across a variety of roles within the Diocese of Rochester. Her educational ministry also included a significant role in the Rochester City School District, where she worked in the NYS Workforce Retraining Program at Delco Products. She also contributed to the Rochester City School District Adult Education Program, an endeavor that earned her recognition as Adult Education Teacher of the Year. Her passion for serving diverse learners continued as she later became a consultant teacher for the Victor School District, where she worked with students seeking an Alternative High School diploma in the High School General Education Program.

Currently, Sister Francella continues her ministry through her work with the Rochester Diocesan Catholic Schools Office, where she focuses on Records Retention and Disposition. In addition, she serves as a volunteer at Nazareth Elementary School, offering her support and wisdom to the next generation of learners.
