Praying for a Better World

The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester joined hundreds of Sisters from around the world for a virtual prayer to pray for hope, love and encouragement for our broken world.

The  “Contemplative Prayer for the World” experience was sponsored by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious’ (LCWR) and took place at LCWR’s annual assembly in Orlando, Florida on August 16. The assembly was attended by more than 700 women religious and collaborators from around the U.S. and 12 other countries.

Three members of our Leadership Team were at the conference and joined the prayer live. Hundreds more joined virtually, including some of our Sisters at the Motherhouse.

Prayer participants were encouraged to move into a deeper awareness of the fragility of the world, in light of the issues such as climate change, racism, migration, and polarization and then reflect ways to respond  to these realities as followers of the Gospel.
