SSJ Joins Women's Panel at Alma Mater

On March 28, Sister Barbara Staropoli participated in a Women’s Panel at Nazareth University as part of Women’s History Month. Topics included finding a sense of belonging as women with several intersecting identities, creating a sense of belonging for others, and how the journey of women has shaped (and continues to shape) how we interact with and include others. The panel, made up of faculty, board members, and graduates, also discussed challenges and celebrations as women in various industries.

Sister Barbara is a 1964 graduate of Nazareth. From 1971 to 2003, she served on the faculty at the University’s School of Music, starting the Opera Workshop in 1972 and serving as Department Chair from 1995 to 2003. Other panelists included Maureen Finney (Provost), Susan Genthner (’73), Yolanda Benitez (’84), Danielle Abramson (’08), and Yamuna Sangarasivam (Professor).
