New Role for SSJ Chaplain

Monroe Community Hospital held a farewell party for Sister Marie Susanne Hoffman

Sister Marie Susanne says she will greatly miss the residents. “Their faith, courage and care for one another has been inspiring,” shared Sister Marie Susanne. “They really are a community and would help me and sometimes say ‘you need to see someone; they aren’t doing well.'”

On June 12, the hospital community gathered for a farewell party to honor Sister Marie Susanne’s years of service. She will start her new position as Motherhouse Coordinator, providing pastoral care to Motherhouse residents, alongside Sister Anne Guerin, in July.

Sister Marie Susanne Hoffman is shifting gears to a new ministry. This summer she is moving from her role as Chaplain at Monroe Community Hospital to a new pastoral role in the Congregation.

Sister Marie Susanne has been a comforting presence for residents and families at Monroe Community Hospital for the past seven years. In her role, she visited residents daily, bringing a smile, a prayer and a caring word. Many days would find her sitting by the bedside of those who were dying, offering hope, comfort and peace to the ill and their families. She also helped coordinate blessings and communion visits.
